The accumulation of data suggests that many biological proteins, including cell cycle regulatory (cyclin B1, CDK1), apoptosis (Bax protein, Bcl‐2, caspase3, caspase‐9, ‐3 and ROS), tumor suppressor protein (p16, p21, p27, p38, and p53), signaling (p‐Akt, p‐mTOR, AMPK, PI3K/Akt, metastatic factor (MMP‐2 and MMP‐9) and growth factor receptor (VEGF, VEGFR2) are simultaneously targeted by some phytochemicals, which limit tumor formation.
