A prospective IBD registry revealed elderly (>60 years) persons on anti-TNF had higher rates of serious adverse events (incidence rate ratio [IRR]: 2.06; 95% CI: 1.42, 3.00), and serious infections (61.2 vs. 12.4 infections per 1000 person-years) compared with a younger cohort (<40 years) (20). This evidence concerns the gene TNF and infection.
