In an FGR preterm lamb ventilation study, unventilated FGR lambs displayed mild degrees of microbleeds and albumin extravasation into brain parenchyma, whereas ventilated FGR lambs showed more severe microbleeds and extravasation in the form of increased red blood cell and albumin infiltration into brain parenchyma and capillary wall degradation in addition to periventricular leukomalacia.55 This evidence concerns the gene ALB and periventricular leukomalacia.
