To assess the inflammatory response of Brucella-infected placenta, the transcriptional levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, IP-10, and MIP-1β were analyzed by qPCR in the placenta, indicating that the transcription of cytokines was obviously increased following infection with strain 2308 compared to that found in the phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) group.
