G6PD and G6PD deficiency: Known neonatal and maternal factors associated with an increased risk of NH are preterm birth (< 37 weeks of gestational age), low birth weight (LBW; < 2,500 g) or small for gestational age (SGA), maternal-fetal ABO or Rhesus incompatibility, and inherited neonatal disorders such as glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency and Gilbert’s syndrome.
