As shown in Fig. 4a–d, the adoptive transfer of CD4+Foxp3+ or CD4+Lrig1+ T cells markedly alleviated the IBD symptoms such as body weight loss, inflammation in the colon, splenomegaly, and histological score, while these IBD symptoms were observed in CD4+Lrig1− T cell recipients. This evidence concerns the gene FOXP3 and inflammatory bowel disease.
