HMGCR and myeloid sarcoma: A previous Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis used single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within HMGCR gene region to mimic the effects of statins on the risk of MS developing through HMGCR inhibition.11 This study revealed no causal link between these SNPs and MS risk, suggesting that statins have no effect on MS risk.11HMGCR is the target for statins; therefore, it is not surprising that MR studies focus on HMGCR to mimic the effects of statins.
