One is that VEGF mediates the production of nitric oxide, which is a classic type of vasodilator, causing vasoconstriction due to an imbalance between vasodilator and vasoconstrictor; another is that VEGF dilates arterioles and venules to lower blood pressure, therefore inhibiting VEGF induces increased peripheral resistance and hypertension.[40,41] In cases of uncontrolled hypertension, blood pressure should be closely monitored, and antihypertensive medication should be used.[42].
