The overall integration between the polyphenolic composition and the biological properties of the extracts in the PCA analysis suggested that compounds such as epigallocatechin-gallate are involved in Apc modulation, which might be inferred due to the high binding affinity between epigallocatechin gallate and APC protein, whereas pro-apoptotic effects could be associated to caffeic acids, condensed tannins, total phenolic compounds, and gallic acids, which are known anti-inflammatory compounds and reactive oxygen species inductors in cancer cells [46].
