No individual compounds from CA were evaluated in this model, but the CA phytochemical composition, predominantly governed by p-coumaric, rosmarinic, and chlorogenic acids, was linked to the chemopreventive effects in reducing the immunohistochemical expression of proteins in the colonic tissue linked to CRC progression and development such as β-catenin, proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), caspase-3, cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2), and the nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB). This evidence concerns the gene PCNA and colorectal carcinoma.
