Caloric–proteic malnutrition is also a common disease in the elderly,[7,8] and albumin is considered to be an important indicator of nutritional status.[7,9,10] Meanwhile, albumin is the most widely studied protein for diagnosing malnutrition, and the definition of hypoalbuminemia is used as an indication of malnutrition to screen malnourished people.[11] Albumin plays an important role in a number of physiological mechanisms including the inflammation and nutrition. Here, ALB is linked to nutritional deficiency disease.
