In addition, small eccDNAs in two colorectal cancer tissues and one non‐cancer tissue were found to originate from the full‐length eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 alpha 1 (EEF1A1) gene and two enhancers of EEF1A1 (Figure 1F) (The different lengths of each small eccDNA may be due to their origins in apoptotic DNA fragments10) and may function independently in the development of colorectal cancer.23 The gene discussed is EEF1A1; the disease is cancer.
