Through single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis of fibroblasts from multiple tumor types, we identified a subgroup of CAFs that express high levels of gap junction protein beta-2 (GJB2), and we named this subgroup "GJB2-positive CAFs." We further explored the characteristics and functions of GJB2-positive CAFs in the tumor microenvironment, including their association with extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling and collagen production, their interactions with other cells, and their clinical significance.
