PLA2G4A and viral infectious disease: In the lungs and the liver of mice severely infected with PR8 virus, the gene expression of Pla2g4a, which encodes cPLA2, a well-characterized PLA2, that hydrolyses arachidonic acid from the lipid membrane, was significantly increased, suggesting that arachidonic acid hydrolysis from the lipid membrane is facilitated in these tissues upon virus infection.
