A prospective study recruiting 92 patients with HFpEF and 20 patients with coronary artery disease without HF showed that HFpEF patients with FABP4 levels ≥ 43.5 ng/ml had significantly lower event-free survival than FABP4 levels < 43.5 ng/ml of patients, suggesting that elevated FABP4 levels were associated with the risk of the composite endpoint (all-cause death and HFH) in patients with HFpEF (log-rank P = 0.003) [76].
