Our data revealed that the strongest associated haplotype was DRB1*03:01:01~DQA1*05:01:01~DQB1*02:01:01 [OR (95% CI) = 4.1 (2.61–6.63), Pc = 8.7 x 10-10], which confers high risk of T1D, and is well-documented in Arab, Korean, and Caucasian populations (7, 9, 40). The gene discussed is HLA-DQA1; the disease is type 1 diabetes mellitus.
