RASD2 and Huntington disease: Rhes has been reported to as a SUMO-E3 ligase and is capable of SUMOylating and stabilizing soluble mHTT in cell models (Subramaniam et al., 2009, 2010), it is plausible to suggest that the depletion of Rhes may result in reduced sumoylation of soluble mHTT, potentially promoting the aggregation of mHTT during the presymptomatic stage in HD KI mice.
