RAD51 and infection: The reduced virulence and toxin production was not due to differences in colonization, as both JH2010- and JH2016-infected mice had similar colonization on days 1 and 3 post-infection, Figure 4C. Combined, the mouse experiments confirmed that JH2010 has an increased capacity for RecA-independent and RecA-dependent toxin production under in vivo conditions, as compared to JH2016.
