FGF14 and Alzheimer disease: Further investigation is required to determine the precise mechanisms of phosphorylation-driven regulation of the FGF14/Nav1.6 complex, but disruption of FGF14 binding to the channel directly in the hippocampus of AD brains may prevent its potentiation of Nav1.6-mediated neuronal excitability and aid in ameliorating hippocampal network hyperactivity.
