IL-14a transgenic mice overexpress IL-14a mainly in the B-cell compartment, and they exhibit features of sialadenitis, hypergammaglobulinaemia, SLE-like nephritis and, rarely, positive autoantibodies (anti-SSA, anti-SSB, anti-dsDNA, anti-RNP, etc.), making them a possible model for SS secondary to SLE. This evidence concerns the gene RNPC3 and systemic lupus erythematosus.
