Studies on the correlation of AQP1-Abs, with CNS astrocytopathy and associated demyelination and on the possible pathogenic role of AQP1-Abs in NMOSD phenotype are limited, and data have been mostly derived by the Athens research team and the collaborating research groups; however, the available results strongly suggest that the AQP1-Abs are disease relevant. This evidence concerns the gene AQP1 and Peripheral demyelination.
