An in vitro study on human hepatoma cells showed that miR-185 controls cholesterol uptake by directly targeting LDLR and the LDLR-destabilizing RNA-binding protein KH-type splicing regulatory protein (KSRP), adding another layer of complexity to the mechanism by which miR-185 regulates cholesterol homeostasis [36]. This evidence concerns the gene LDLR and hepatocellular carcinoma.
