A 1-SD increase in bilirubin was associated with a lower prevalence of insulin resistance (odds ratio [OR] = 0.69, p = 2.1 × 10−12), hyperglycemia (OR, 0.86, p = 0.0096), and dyslipidemia (OR, 0.89, p = 0.018), but not with high ALT (OR, 1.02, p = 0.64), or hypertension (OR, 1.01, p = 0.93) (Figure 5, Supplementary Table S4). This evidence concerns the gene GPT and metabolic syndrome.
