NFE2L2 and autoimmune disease: Analyses of antioxidant-induced gene expression showed that the NRF2 knockout mice had a reduced expression of the NRF2 target genes HO-1 and NQO1 and concomitantly displayed increased oxidative lesions in multiple tissues, thus confirming an interplay between the NRF2 function, TLR signaling and autoimmune surveillance in the development of autoimmune disorders [86,94,95].
