Yilmaz et al. (2015) showed serum levels of galectin-3 were significantly elevated in type 2 diabetes mellitus and prediabetic patients compared with healthy controls, and were positively correlated with fasting plasma glucose (r = 0.787, P < 0.01) and 2-h plasma glucose levels (r = 0.833, P < 0.01). Here, LGALS3 is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
