A systematic review and meta-analysis of 4523 AIS patients demonstrated that patients with elevated levels of NT-proBNP were associated with unfavorable functional outcomes (OR 1.68) with high heterogeneity (I2 = 90.8%)9, which can be implied that more studies are needed to establish the association of NT-proBNP with functional outcome after ischemic stroke. This evidence concerns the gene NPPB and ischemic stroke.
