Analysis of slides from paraffin embedded oral squamous cell carcinoma blocks using COL1A2 and TIMP-1 staining revealed that TIMP-1, stained meekly (Fig. 2d) as opposed to COL1A2 (Fig. 2d), which showed a strong and significant differential staining in the stromal compartment of oral cancer patient sample, thus winning the race over TIMP-1. The gene discussed is TIMP1; the disease is lip and oral cavity carcinoma.
