Observed hypertriglyceridaemia, an increased waist-to-height ratio, and lower levels of HDL and adiponectin indicate that these patients are at high cardiovascular risk, despite the fact that they do not always meet the required criteria for MetS, as both groups of children (MetS and non-MetS) showed mean values of 25OHD falling into the category of vitamin D deficiency.
