LYZ and infection: In contrast, following the same trend of immune pathway induction, only infections with B. bassiana resulted in higher expression of the antimicrobial effectors Lysozyme and Gloverin. These antimicrobial effectors are also elicited in other lepidopteran hosts; for instance, during B. bassiana infection in B. mori [29,65], the cotton bollworm Helicoverpa armigera [68], and in the fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda in response to Metarhizium rileyi infections [69].
