In 2021, a case-control study showed that the activity of Sirt1 in the serum of patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) was significantly lower than that of the control group, and its levels were significantly negatively correlated with the stroke score, which suggested that Sirt1 could be used as a potential biomarker for predicting the risk of AIS (Esmayel et al., 2021). Here, SIRT1 is linked to stroke disorder.
