In ischemic stroke, MaR1 inhibited apoptosis and reduced injury by up-regulating expression of Sirt1 and Bcl-2 and down-regulating expression of acetylated NF-κB and Bax, Sirt1 inhibitor EX527 could partially reverse the effects, which suggested that the Sirt1/P65 signaling was specifically involved in MaR1-mediated protection against ischemic stroke (Xian et al., 2019). The gene discussed is BCL2; the disease is ischemic stroke.
