Wei et al. demonstrated in colorectal cancer that CLDN2 is upregulated and associated with poor survival, and CLDN2 depletion significantly promoted N-myc downstream-regulated gene 1 (NDRG1) transcription, leading to termination of the cancer cell growth and metastasis in vitro and in vivo [24]. The gene discussed is NDRG1; the disease is colorectal cancer.
