Intriguingly, when we investigated whether the SPEN mutation could translate into cancer prognosis in the TCGA cohort, the results demonstrated that patients with SPEN mutation had better OS (p = 0.009), DSS (p = 0.007), PFS (p = 0.044) and DFS (p = 0.012), which implied the prognosis and survival for cancer patients were dependent of SPEN mutant status (Fig. 2A). The gene discussed is SPEN; the disease is cancer.
