Recent evidence suggested that neuroinflammation may be the culprit for Tau pathology observed in AD (Ising et al. 2019; Vogels et al. 2019; Heneka et al. 2018; Ishizawa et al. 2004; Zhang et al. 2013; Leyns and Holtzman 2017), and both microglia and astrocytes have been suggested to contribute to the onset and propagation of Tau pathology in the brain. This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and Alzheimer disease.
