BECN1 and preeclampsia: Various studies have shown that apoptosis is increased in pregnancies complicated by some pathologies such as preeclampsia, fetal growth restriction and diabetes.[20] Unlike apoptotic tissue, necrotic tissues contribute to the pathophysiology of preeclampsia by forming an inflammatory response when taken up by endothelial cells.[21] These conditions fail to explain the role of apoptosis in the development of placental pathology.[22] In our study, Beclin1 reaction was generally negative in control group (Fig. 1C).
