LAMP proteins are involved in many different aspects of cell biology and can influence cellular processes such as phagocytosis, autophagy, lipid transport, and aging.[10] Interestingly, for all the 5 members identified so far [lysosomal associated membrane protein 1 (LAMP1), lysosomal associated membrane protein 2 (LAMP2), lysosomal associated membrane protein 3 (LAMP3), lysosomal associated membrane protein 4, and Lysosomal associated membrane protein 5], a role in cancer has been suggested.[11]. This evidence concerns the gene LAMP3 and cancer.
