CAPN3 and limb-girdle muscular dystrophy: In this regard, the fact that most VCP-MSP disease patients have sparing of the subscapularis and the infra/supraspinatus, early involvement of abdominal muscles and involvement of the sartorius are clues that can be helpful to differentiate from LGMD produced by mutations in the CAPN3, FKRP or the sarcoglycan genes which are diseases that can clinically mimic VCP-MSP disease, especially if patients present with limb girdle muscle weakness associated with scapular winging [39–41].
