Recent research focused mainly on the roles of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) (Cardoso et al., 2017) and glutamate/cystine antiporter (xCT) (Lane and Lin, 2023) in the pathogenesis of AD in both animal models and humans, an overview of the currently accepted mechanism being schematized in the work of Wang et al., 2022. This evidence concerns the gene GPX4 and Alzheimer disease.
