Based on the rapidly emerging new evidence of SGLT2 inhibitors’ efficacy and safety in CKD, the Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) guidelines and The National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) clinical guidelines on CKD recommend SGLT2 inhibitors for patients with CKD and type 2 diabetes (NICE Guideline, 2021; Rossing et al., 2022). This evidence concerns the gene SLC5A2 and chronic kidney disease.
