In stroke models, dead/stressed neurons release the find-me signal lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) by enhancing secretory phospholipase A2 group X. LPC chemoattracts microglia via G protein-coupled receptor 132 (GPCR132) or P2X purinoreceptor 7 (P2X7) (Inose et al., 2015) (Figure 1A). This evidence concerns the gene P2RX7 and stroke disorder.
