As a compensation for hyperglycaemia and insulin resistance, probiotic- and synbiotic-supplemented mice upregulated the expression of the insulin receptor gene Insr and the glucose transporters GLUT-1 and GLUT-4 in both fat and muscle tissues, by the overexpression of the coding genes Glut-1 and Glut-4. The gene discussed is INSR; the disease is Insulin resistance.
