For instance, hypoxia induces the expression of the pro-tumorigenic driver YTH N6-methyladenosine RNA binding protein F1 (YTHDF1), and promotes breast cancer cell proliferation through dual mechanisms; first, by promoting its transcriptional activation in HIF1α-dependent manner, and second, by inhibiting the miR-16-5p-mediated post-transcriptional repression of YTHDF1.
