CBLN1 and gestational diabetes: This case–control study including 1040 women who developed GDM and 958 pregnant controls demonstrated that the early pregnancy serum concentration of ceramides Cer(d18:1/16:0), Cer(d18:1/18:0), Cer(d18:1/24:0), Cer(d18:1/24:1) and the Cer(d18:1/18:0)/Cer(d18:1/16:0) ratio, as well as triglycerides, LDL and total cholesterol were higher and HDL was lower among women who subsequently developed GDM.
