Various genes, including ASIP (agouti), TYR (albinism), TYRP1 (brown), KIT (dominant white), KITLG (roan), PMEL (dilution), melanocortin 1 receptor (MC1R) (extension), and MITF (white-spotted), have been identified as important pigmentation genes underlying coat color variation [2, 4–7]. This evidence concerns the gene KIT and albinism.
