It has been shown that supplements containing NAD+ (and its precursors, abundant in mushrooms, avocados, and cucumbers) could reduce the expression of proinflammatory cytokines and mitigate microglia and astrocyte activation, through decreasing cGAS-STING activity, which was shown to attenuate neuroinflammation and cell senescence in a mouse model of AD [67]. This evidence concerns the gene STING1 and Alzheimer disease.
