An exception to this is the study performed by Lee and colleagues, which found that the activities of the molybdoenzymes Xanthine Oxidase, Aldehyde Oxidase, and Sulfite Oxidase, were not influenced at 0.3 g/L, or 1 g/L sodium molybdate supplementation in the NAFLD mouse model, although AOX activity was significantly decreased, and sulfite oxidase and XDH activity was significantly increased in the NAFLD animals in comparison to the control [117]. Here, AOX1 is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
