In the base model adjusted for age (years) and gender (male/female), the odds of MS were 2.28 times higher for those in the last tertile of total animal-based protein (OR: 2.28, 95%CI: 1.18, 4.41; p-value = 0.013), and about five times higher in the last tertile of the PRAL score (OR: 4.88, 95%CI: 2.38, 10.02; p-value < 0.001) and NEAP score model (OR: 5.03, 95%CI: 2.47, 10.26; p-value < 0.001), compared to the first tertile.
