In a model of fructose-induced non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in rats, silymarin reduced lipid index parameters such as aspartate aminotransferase (AST), aspartate aminotransferase (ALT), superoxide dismutase/hydrogen peroxidase (SOD/CAT), and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS). This evidence concerns the gene CAT and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
