Although there have been a multitude of murine models that have impacted the identification of a large array of factors defining the SS-like disease in mice [33], there are four genetically manipulated lines that have had a significant impact, including the NOD/Shi (or NOD/ShiLtJ) mouse [34], the C57BL/6.NOD-Aec1Aec2 recombinant inbred (RI) line [19], the TSP-/- gene knock-out (KO) mouse [35], and the IL14α-/- gene knock-in (KI) mouse [29].
