Adding the number of TLR4-positive intermediate monocytes as a quantitative variable in the model used for predicting the progression of lower limb atherosclerosis and polyvascular atherosclerosis, which includes male sex, age, and smoking, led to an increase in their prognostic effectiveness (C-index 0.728 (0.642–0.815); p = 0.0006 and 0.725 (0.613–0.838); p = 0.001, respectively). Here, TLR4 is linked to atherosclerosis.
