A neutrophil protein and granule component (gelatinase-associated lipocalin, NGAL) appeared in a urine-proteomic study as a biomarker of FSGS compared to MCNS, another form of INS, and its expression was correlated with the degrees of tubulointerstitial lesions [47], confirming the findings of previous reports [48,49,50,51], in which NGAL was presented as a reliable biomarker to distinguish both forms of INS. This evidence concerns the gene LCN2 and lipoid nephrosis.
