To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that the protective role of GAS5 has been identified in a RP model, and the overexpression of GAS5 could partly reverse RP-induced downregulation of Cav1.2, Nav1.5, and Kv4.2 on both transcriptional and translational levels. The gene discussed is GAS5; the disease is retinitis pigmentosa 1.
